Studies focusing on the cultural dimension in language teaching have generally neglected metacultural competence. This paper deals with this « meta » aspect for French language teaching in its close relationship with metalexical skills, which are a key element in lexicocentric approaches. The development of metacultural competence is also based here on the use of digital corpora, according to the hypothesis that this type of online resource is likely to stimulate the reflection on both lexical-semantic and cultural phenomena. A pilot experiment is described in which the DIACOM-fr corpus was used as part of a training course for prospective teachers aimed at increasing metacultural competence through the use of authentic corpus data.

La compétence métaculturelle via les corpus numériques pour la formation initiale des enseignants de FLE

Abstract

Dans les études axées sur la dimension culturelle en didactique des langues, la compétence métaculturelle fait figure de parent pauvre. Dans cette contribution, nous nous penchons sur cet aspect « méta » pour la didactique du français L2 dans son étroite relation avec la compétence métalexicale, prônée par les approches lexicocentriques. Le développement de la compétence métaculturelle s’appuie ici sur le recours aux corpus numériques, selon l’hypothèse que ce type de ressource en ligne est susceptible de stimuler la réflexion autour des phénomènes à la fois lexico-sémantiques et culturels. À ce propos, nous décrivons une expérience pilote basée sur le corpus DIACOM-fr dans le cadre d’une formation de futurs enseignants, qui a été finalisée à accroître la compétence métaculturelle à travers l’exploitation des données authentiques du corpus.
