Istinto filosofico e arguzie polemiche. Ricostruzione critica della memoria sulla storia di Benedetto Croce

The author edited the critical edition of Benedetto Croce’s Primi saggi (Bibliopolis, Napoli 2024), accompanied by an apparatus containing variants and a Note on the evolution of the texts. Reference is made to it for a complete indication of the suppressions and additions found in La storia ridotta sotto il concetto generale dell'arte (1893), La critica letteraria. Questioni teoriche (1894) and in the other writings collected in the book. In the following research readers will find an interpretive reconstruction of the essays accepted in the small volume that appeared in 1896 under the title Il concetto della storia nelle sue relazioni col concetto dell’arte. Some quotations used in the Note to the Primi saggi, as is inevitable, have been taken up in paragraphs 3-5 of this article, where they are recast in a different discourse.
