Marco Polo ‘24: un periplo celebrativo. Rassegna degli eventi in onore dei 700 anni dalla morte di Marco Polo (1324-2024)

Throughout 2024, several public initiatives were dedicated to the figure of Marco Polo, his journey, and his book, with the aim of commemorating the Venetian traveler seven hundred years after he died in 1324. The rich program of scientific, literary, cultural events and exhibitions offered many opportunities to commemorate the Venetian traveler who was the first to provide a complete and reliable account of Asian realities, contributing to the development of relations between Europe and Asia. The paper aims to offer an overview of the events dedicated to the celebrations of the seventh centenary of Marco Polo’s death (1324 - 2024), most of which were realized with the support of the National Committee. The overview includes initiatives of different nature and addressed to different audiences; for this reason, they have been grouped into the following sections: a) exhibitions; b) conventions and conferences; c) publications and new bibliographical contributions; d) knowledge enhancement activities; e) other events.
