In Cgm 51, the German Tristan romance by Gottfried and Ulrich is accompanied by a complete cycle of illustrations, which include captions added by various hands over the course of two centuries. These captions explain and comment on the images, and occasionally refer to the manuscript’s poetic texts. The TRISDE 51 project explored the possibilities of a digital scholarly edition of this multimodal document, using the XML/TEI standard.
