Una madre costituente nel rinnovamento culturale postbellico. Lettere di Laura Bianchini alla Morcelliana (1945-1947)

The article presents part of the unpublished correspondence between Laura Bianchini (1903-1983) – a Catholic intellectual active in the anti-fascist Resistance, member of the National Council and Constituent Assembly – and the Morcelliana publishing house in the years of post-war cultural renewal. The letters attest to the accreditation of a woman in an almost entirely male professional world, thanks to her ability to build a network of relationships with prestigious collaborators, such as Jacques Maritain. These documents – which evoke political and editorial issues – constitute a valuable source not only for the history of publishing and the history of ideas, but also for the history of women’s work, the history of education and of the political commitment of intellectual groups in the history of Italy, helping to outline the paths (encounters, friendships, readings) through which women’s intelligence found new spaces for listening and action in twentieth-century society.
