World Kidney Day (WKD) started in 2006 by a memorandum of understanding between the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF) and the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) based on a proposal to increase aware- ness, detection, prevention, and treatment of kidney dis- eases. In recent years WKD has grown dramatically and it is now the most celebrated event associated with kidney disease in the world.
