This paper aims to shed a light on Ermenegildo Pistelli's discovery of two hitherto unknown 'Magliabechian' manuscripts of Dante's Letter to Cangrande. After the analysis of three archival collections in Florence and Pisa, I intend to demonstrate that one of the manuscripts, commonly referred to as 'Ri', must be indicated as Filze Rinuccini 19/a ins. 5. It will therefore be clear that it belongs neither to the Magliabechian, nor to the Palatino collection of the Central National Library in Florence, as Michele Barbi and Friedrich Schneider respectively thought.
