The article is dedicated to the examination of borders and border zones in Emine Sevgi Özdamar’s late work, namely the play Perikizi. Ein Traumspiel (2010) and the novel Ein von Schatten begrenzter Raum (2021). Özdamar’s protagonists are described as experts in border experiences, which not only concern spatial, linguistic and cultural experiences, but also include the historical and temporal dimensions of borders. The analysis aims to show that the theme of the border in Özdamar’s work is not only closely linked to her own migration experience, but also deeply interwoven with the story of the first-person narrator and her and the Turkish society’s repressed traumas, which become central leitmotifs in Özdamar’s late work.

Abstract
The article is dedicated to the examination of borders and border zones in Emine Sevgi Özdamar’s late work, namely the play Perikizi. Ein Traumspiel (2010) and the novel Ein von Schatten begrenzter Raum (2021). Özdamar’s protagonists are described as experts in border experiences, which not only concern spatial, linguistic and cultural experiences, but also include the historical and temporal dimensions of borders. The analysis aims to show that the theme of the border in Özdamar’s work is not only closely linked to her own migration experience, but also deeply interwoven with the story of the first-person narrator and her and the Turkish society’s repressed traumas, which become central leitmotifs in Özdamar’s late work.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
