The way individuals perceive themselves and others is largely influenced by facial aesthetics, as the face is at the epicentre of human expression. In a world where people communicate through social media and see pictures of themselves more than any point in history, having an “appealing look” is crucial for socialisation. This phenomenon, along with the enormous speed at which people are interacting and receiving information, can explain the great increase in demand for aesthetic procedures with immediate results and short downtime. Non-surgical procedures can offer a reduced impact in facial morbidity with respect to surgery and eventually can improve skin quality and texture with a negligible risk for the patient, good cost-effectiveness, and quick recovery for any individual who is wishing to return to their usual habits and social life. We asked the Authors to investigate and explore many interesting aspects of this field. Our task was to create a single-volume text that attempts to cover the most valuable topics by expert authors to deliver a state of the art monography for facial non surgical procedures. This Volume is intended for medical professionals and trainees at all levels: Practicing plastic surgeons, surgeons in related fields such as Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Oral Surgery, Orthopedics and General Surgery, surgery residents in all subspecialties, medical students, physicians assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners. It has been a privilege and a honor for me to be involved in the creation of this volume, along with outstanding authors offering their approaches, techniques, philosophy and solutions . It has not been a difficult task as The European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery provided Great members with a long history and experience in surgical and non-surgical procedures. I want to thank once again all the Authors for their honest and accurate reports of facial non-surgical treatments. I wish all the readers to expand their knowledge and treatment skills through this edition od FPS and look forward for the new and the best research progress to come.

Abstract

Nevertheless it is important the keep in mind the possible negative effects of this practice, such as serious complications that can occur without proper training and knowledge of anatomy; and a possible “over injected look” if these treatments are not done in moderation.
