In this paper I discuss the excerpts of the pseudo-Phocylidean Sententiae preserved in the gnomology transmitted by the manuscripts bav, Vat. gr. 895 and Wien, Österreichisches Nationalbibliothek, Phil. gr. 169. The aim is to identify the sources from which the excerptor drew the ps.-Phocylidean maxims, as well as his working milieu. Moreover, I try to understand the relationship of this witness to the textual tradition of ps.-Phocylides and its stemma.
