After an introduction concerning the recent interest in the perduellio trials and the so-called duumviral judgments, the essay focuses on the 'mythical' trial against the surviving Horatius and the 'historical' trial against Rabirius, in an attempt to bring out the annalistic traditions relating to the former and, with regard to the latter, to specify the institutional, ideological and political background of Labienus' accusation, as well as the role played by Caesar.
