Contracts for difference, curtailment of renewable electricity production, increasing flexibility needs and new resources to satisfy them, feasibility of the nodal price solution: the article analyzes aspects that the regulation of electricity markets have so far left in the shadow, and should be considered in the ongoing review of markets design by the European Commission, because they will play an important role in encouraging the substantial investments in renewable generation capacity required for the decarbonization of electricity systems.
