The article is devoted to define the lines of Pietro Verri’s interventions in the field of medical science (and its health and social implications) through his prose writings: the first satirical almanacs; the articles published in «Il Caffè»; the autobiographical writings; the public memorial works (on his friend Paolo Frisi, who died after a reckless surgical operation); the reflections of a private nature (the letters to his brother Alessandro, with a rich catalogue of clinical relations on diseases of friends, relatives and acquaintances, and the thoughts dedicated to his daughter Teresa, in tune with the most advanced pediatric and pedagogical positions).
