The European Green Deal is the new growth strategy proposed by the EU Commission. It aims to preserve the health and well-being of citizens from environmental risks and impacts; it also proposes to decouple economic growth from the unsustainable use of natural resources with the aim of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. This goal requires a strategy that encompasses all aspects of individuals’ daily lives. In view of a socially just transition, it is also necessary that no one is left behind. The need to frame a new model (European as well as Global) of sustainability requires a process involving many different areas of knowledge.

Abstract

The European Green Deal is the new growth strategy proposed by the EU Commission. It aims to preserve the health and well-being of citizens from environmental risks and impacts; it also proposes to decouple economic growth from the unsustainable use of natural resources with the aim of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. This goal requires a strategy that encompasses all aspects of individuals’ daily lives. In view of a socially just transition, it is also necessary that no one is left behind. The need to frame a new model (European as well as Global) of sustainability requires a process involving many different areas of knowledge.
