The cause of relapsing non biliary pancreatitis is difficult to recognise and, generally, several instrumental investigations are performed, often inappropriately. In this review, the main causes of non biliary recurrent pancreatitis are described. The complexity and the high costs for the etiological diagnosis implie that, these patients should be followed in a highly specialized centers.
