The discussion on ecological transition revolves around a few unshakable cornerstones: the economic growth, the centrality of the market, the defense of the Western lifestyle, the unquestioned faith in technology; the de-politicization of the politics and the underlying anthropocentrism. However, no real socio-ecological transitions are viable within such a conservative and adaptive framework. Thus, it is urgent to open up to unprecedented questions and perspectives, push we off the usual tracks, and cultivate new “heresies” able to prefigure an integral socio-ecological transformation. This paper would shed lights on some community-based initiatives and social movement organizations that are educating and engaging young and adult citizens to practice and address the present toward a more sustainable future.
