Observing the thickening of liturgical-responsorial modules and the adduction in the vernacular of their original Latin in the so-called Cantos of the exam on the theological virtues (Par. xxiv-xxvi), the essay identifies in an antiphon in festo sancti Iohannis the probable hypotext of the presentation of John made by Beatrice in Par. xxv 112-14, excluding instead a liturgical derivation for the presentations of Saints Peter and James (respectively Par. xxiv 34-37 and xxv 17-18). Moreover, in the proximity between the antiphonal tercet of Par. xxv 112-14 and the speech in which St. John denies as erroneous the rumor of his own assumption to heaven ante mortem (vv. 122-29) a similar proximity can be discovered between antiphon, the gradual Exiit ergo sermo iste and the lectio Evangelii from Jn 21 19-24, which is in the proprium rite for St. John

Abstract

John
