"Vu autrement". Images de "Cap au pire" de Samuel Beckett par Maguy Marin et Peter Welz

La mise en scène de Cap au pire conçue en 2006 par la chorégraphe Maguy Marin et interprétée par Françoise Leick plonge dans la pénombre la lecture intégrale en voix off du texte beckettien. L’installation de Peter Welz whenever on on on nohow on|airdrawing (2004) multiplie les captations de la performance que William Forsythe improvise à partir d’une phrase inspirée de Worstward Ho. En illustrant les apparitions et les disparitions des images et en inscrivant dans l’espace des traces de mots à la croisée de danse, vidéo-sculpture, dessin et architecture, ces deux œuvres visualisent et interrogent les tensions entre perception et imagination, présence et absence, voir et dire. / Worstward Ho has inspired new works since 2000 : a choreography by Maguy Marin and an installation by Peter Welz, which foreground the intreplay between artistic media, including dance, explored in Beckett’s œuvre. Marin’s staging of Cap au pire, entirely recorded in voice over, is interpreted by Françoise Leick and set in almost complete darkness ; Welz’s installation whenever on on on nohow on|airdrawing relies on footage of an improvised performance by William Forsythe. By illustrating the appearances and disappearances of images and inscribing in space distant traces of the text through video-sculpture, drawing and architecture, these works interrogate the tensions between perception and imagination, presence and absence, saying and seeing.
