The adjective dantesque or dantean is widely used in the contemporary Armenian language as a synonym for infernal, hellish, or even for hell. Following the Armenian literary tradition of reference to Dante's work, Hovhannes Shiraz entitled his poem The Armenian Dantesque. He coined a series of words-images in this poem with Dante's name. The article presents these neologisms revealing the particularities in the perception of Dante's work in the Armenian language.
