This paper analyses how Luigi Pareti interpreted the battle of Himera in an important article of 1914. My first aim is to evaluate the method of investigation of the scholar, who belonged to the “Roman school” of Karl Julius Beloch and Gaetano De Sanctis. Secondly, I intend to compare his method with that of Santo Mazzarino, who, some decades later, tried to give a new and original reading of the same battle.

Abstract
This paper analyses how Luigi Pareti interpreted the battle of Himera in an important article of 1914.
