The aim ofthis contribution is to analyse the historical and iconographie evolution of the character of the architriclinus mentioned in the episode of the Marriage at Cana, through a comparative approach ofliterary sources and a corpus of works of art in which the character is represented. The aim, therefore, is to observe and grasp the perception, during the Middle Ages, of a secondary character of the evangelical narrative who, over the course of time, has undergone numerous semantic transformations.
