Dinamiche sociali e capitale sociale sotto l’effetto del primo lockdown in Italia

The paper presents some reflections on the consequences associated with the Italian lockdown 2020. Through empirical research data, it tries to understand to what extent the Italian cultural climate between March and April 2020 influenced the attitudes of Italians and the social capital available in the country. For this purpose, the paper analyse the data of an empirical research conducted at the end of April 2020 on a sample of the Italian population of 1,011 cases by comparing the evidence that emerged from a previous survey carried out at the end of 2017. At a first step, the data are analysed to identify the level of proximity of the interviewees to the consequences of the pandemic and to measure the type of emotional reaction that this produced. A second phase of the research will investigate the changes in the levels of social capital present in the country during the lockdown period. The variables that will be analysed relate to generalized interpersonal trust, trust in institutions, civic engagement activities and guidance on engagement in voluntary activities.
