Abstract

A silver magical lamella is published here. Its provenance is unknown and it is kept in the Cabinet des Médailles, in Paris. Its chronology is uncertain and the 2nd-3rd centuries could be only hypothetically proposed. The Greek text invokes the Great God and reports magical symbols and names including those of two archangels. The word αβριαφριξ, «he who makes the air shudder» allows us to give up to the universally accepted correction ἀεριαφρίξ in PGM XII, 176 because ἀεριαφρίξ is correct and has the same meaning as αβριαφριξ.
