Fogolino's ornamental friezes and grotesques are investigated, in order to discover their sources both in Antiquity and in mdern painters, first of all Giulio Romano. Through this analysis, it has been possible to ascertain that Fogolino was in Rome between 1513 and 1518-19, and in Mantua in 1541.
