We resort to Processability Theory’s Developmentally Moderated Transfer Hypothesis, according to which L1 transfer is constrained by the capacity of the L2 learner’s language processor. Our study involves 21 learners of L2 Russian with different L1s. Results show that learners’ L1 affects their accuracy rates in case marking without altering the L2 developmental sequence
