This essay focuses on incunabulum 932 of the Civic Library of Verona, containing Catullus with the commentary of Antonius Parthenius and points out the presence of the noble coat of arms of the Alighieri family. Some marginal notes are examined and inserted in the contemporary Catullian debate. It also reconstructs the biography of Hieronymus Avantius between the eighties and early nineties of the XV century.
