This article presents the results of a first survey aiming at reconstructing, at least virtually, the books produced by the Capitolare Library of Verona, from the sixth century (when the first attestations of a scriptorium date) up to the fourteenth century (when the Library was accessed by extraordinary figures such as Dante and Petrarch). By gathering data from the critical bibliography, this work attempts to reconstruct the genesis of this patrimony, currently dispersed along several Italian and European libraries.

Abstract

This article presents the results of a first survey aiming at reconstructing, at least virtually, the books produced by the Capitolare Library of Verona, from the sixth century (when the first attestations of a scriptorium date) up to the fourteenth century (when the Library was accessed by extraordinary figures such as Dante and Petrarch). By gathering data from the critical bibliography, this work attempts to reconstruct the genesis of this patrimony, currently dispersed along several Italian and European libraries.
