A long defixio has been brought to light in Caesarea Maritima, in the area of the theatre. It deals with a dancer who is condemned to fail in his performance by means of a complex invocation to infernal gods. The object of the curse is a certain Manna, a member of the Blue faction like Hyperechios, who is the targeted dancer of two already known defixiones from Apheca. Abstract

These three texts are, so far, a small group of ancient curses concerning the rivalry in the late antique theatres. Another two from Caesarea will be published by Robert Daniel, by Christopher Faraone and me
