The excavations at Dura Europos have brought to light some inscriptions with the names of the Severans. In this paper, two case studies are examined. The first is the base, with a Greek inscription, of the statue dedicated to Julia Domna by the boulè of Aureliani Antoniniani Europei. This name of the inhabitants, according to some scholars, would prove that Dura Europos obtained from Caracalla the privileges of a Roman colony. The second is an interesting inscription, sometimes considered a single text, sometimes two, where not only the name of Geta has been deleted, but also that of Caracalla.

Abstract
The excavations at Dura Europos have brought to light some inscriptions with the names of the Severans. In this paper, two case studies are examined. The first is the base, with a Greek inscription, of the statue dedicated to Julia Domna by the boulè of Aureliani Antoniniani Europei. This name of the inhabitants, according to some scholars, would prove that Dura Europos obtained from Caracalla the privileges of a Roman colony. The second is an interesting inscription, sometimes considered a single text, sometimes two, where not only the name of Geta has been deleted, but also that of Caracalla.File in questo prodotto:
