The second edition of the ESMO Handbook of Translational Research is intended primarily to be read by physicians working in the eld of medical oncology. The aim is to provide key information about developments in this area in a format that is easy to assimilate, thus allowing oncologists to gain a greater understanding of translational research and personalised medicine. This Handbook is directed to a general oncology audience as well as to those starting out in clinical research. Chapter topics include information about translational research, personalised medicine and the biology and immunological features of tumour cells, as well as more speci c chapters on molecular techniques, drug classes and mechanisms of action, and the interactions between cellular physiological and neoplastic processes.
