After a survey on the evolution of the italian public debt, the paper discusses its composition in tickets coins and deposits, securities other than shares excluding of derivative financial instruments, loans. The study analyses and discusses also the trend in interest expenditure, in the average interest rate, in the average residual life of the government bonds and the restructuring operations carried out to redu-ce the stock of the debt.
