The goal of this chapter is to ease simulation and validation of smart systems. In this context, it provides a taxonomy of abstraction level/design domain, to highlight challenges and tools available for each domain. This allows to identify a precise role in the design flow for co-simulation and simulation scenarios, and thus to outline the possible strategies for gaining correct simulation of smart system. The two complementary approaches are compared with the goal of showing respective strengths and weaknesses.

Abstract

The goal of this chapter is to ease simulation and validation of smart systems. In this context, it provides a taxonomy of abstraction level/design domain, to highlight challenges and tools available for each domain. This allows to identify a precise role in the design flow for co-simulation and simulation scenarios, and thus to outline the possible strategies for gaining correct simulation of smart system. The two complementary approaches are compared with the goal of showing respective strengths and weaknesses.
