The essay examines how Italian regional legislatures take part in EU affairs in the aftermath of the Lisbon Treaty. In this respect, it delineates the constitutional framework, which allows them to get involved in the decision-making process at the European level of government. It then delves into the involvement of Italian regional legislatures in EU affairs within the broader constitutional framework of asymmetric and quasi-federal regionalization. Furthermore, it sets the foundations of regional councils’ participation, which can be traced both to national and European constitutional provisions. Finally, participation of regional legislative councils in EU decision-making is examined within the regional frame of government.

Abstract
The essay examines how Italian regional legislatures take part in EU affairs in the aftermath of the Lisbon Treaty. In this respect, it delineates the constitutional framework, which allows them to get involved in the decision-making process at the European level of government. It then delves into the involvement of Italian regional legislatures in EU affairs within the broader constitutional framework of asymmetric and quasi-federal regionalization. Furthermore, it sets the foundations of regional councils’ participation, which can be traced both to national and European constitutional provisions. Finally, participation of regional legislative councils in EU decision-making is examined within the regional frame of government.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
