Cultural-linguistic interface in the foreign language classroom. The example of the Russian Carnival (Масленица)

There is nowadays more and more awareness about the fact that learning a language involves not only grammatical, phonological and lexical knowledge. The process of learning a new language does not just imply learning new syntactic structures, vocabulary and expressions, but it also concerns paralinguistic and non verbal features of the language, as gesture, intonation, body language, traditions, believes and so on, all aspects that refer to a more pragmatic view on language, seen in its varoius contexts, within the more general concept of culture
