Abstract

In seinem Leitartikel unter dem Titel translatio studiorum erinnert Gregory daran, dass „every culture has come to be by means of a continuous translation and rewriting of preceding meanings, a sequel of translations and transformations.“ Demnach sei die translatio studiorum „a continuous transposition of texts – texts considered in the widest meaning [...] rewritings, translations, interpretations, and metamorphosis.“ Denn es gehe um die Rekonstruktion bestimmter Momente in der translation of written texts from the one to the other geographic, political and linguistic context within the horizon and the limits of the formation of European culture, in respect to which the translationes have often been the mark of crisis and palingenesis.
