Abstract
The increase of second generation pupils in the italian schools suggests that they could become a University significant presence. Here a preliminary report regarding second generation attending the Verona University is presented. The interviewed students possess both a foreign citizenship and an Italian high school degree. Academic education is highly desired as a means of social advance by them and their families, especially by their mothers. The degree of satisfaction for their studies is high. In the choice of friendships, they prefer to spend their time with international students, coming from their same geographic area, to retrieve their own history and traditions. They assert that the lack of citizenship has negative impacts on admission to the University, mobility and attainment of scholarships for accommodation. Citizenship is considered in terms of practical advantages (i.e. mobility, work) and the aspects related to political and social rights/ duties are not mentioned. They imagine their futures outside Italy, mainly Europe and USA.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
