Per l'edizione della Paraphrasis in triginta psalmos versibus scripta e dei De rebus divinis carmina di Marcantonio Flaminio

Letterato di formazione umanistica, educato al culto delle bonae litterae e dei classici, e, nel contempo, teologo impegnato a diffondere il suo pensiero religioso in molti punti coincidente con le idee della Riforma, Marcantonio Flaminio condensa nella lirica sacra degli ultimi anni di vita i due aspetti peculiari della sua esistenza, ossia poesia e fede. La Paraphrasis in triginta psalmos versibus scripta del 1546 e i De rebus divinis carmina del 1550 sono pubblicati sulla base dei testimoni più significativi, a partire dall’editio princeps di entrambe le raccolte. Delle due sillogi sono ricostruite le vicende editoriali, strettamente allacciate alla tradizione dell’intero corpus dei versi flaminiani. Il commento che accompagna il testo mira a porre in rilievo i meccanismi dell’intertestualità alla base della formazione dei carmina sacra, con particolare attenzione alle numerose ed eterogenee fonti presenti, che spaziano dalla poesia latina classica a quella medievale e umanistica, dalla Bibbia e dagli scritti dei padri della Chiesa ai testi riformati del XVI secolo.

Marcantonio Flaminio is a scholar with an education in liberal arts, instructed to the cult of bonae litterae and the classics, and, at the same time, a man of faith committed to spreading his religious thought, which is in some degree coincident with the ideas of the Reformation. He condenses these two unique aspects in the sacred poetry of his last years. The Paraphrasis triginta psalmos versibus scripta (1546) and the De rebus divinis carmina (1550) are published in an edition taking into account the most significant witnesses, starting from the editio princeps of both collections. The publishing history of the two anthologies is retraced, and closely connected to the tradition of the entire corpus of Flaminian verses. The accompanying commentary aims to highlight the mechanisms of intertextuality underlying the formation of the carmina sacra, with a particular attention to the numerous and diverse sources, ranging from classical to medieval and humanistic Latin poetry, from the Bible and the patristic writings to the reformed texts of the sixteenth century.
