In the present article the author publishes for the first time Neo-Latin poetical texts (together with their Ukrainian translation) that are found at the beginning of a few manuals of poetics written and taught at the Kyiv Mohyla Collegium. These poems have the function of verse prefaces to the courses of poetics. The author analyzes the published texts in the context of the conception of poetry fostered at the Collegium, an Orthodox institution, and at the same time she brings to light their links with Latin and Neo-Latin poetry, which show the original assimilation and adaptation in Ukrainian literature of the seventeenth-eighteenth centuries, of ideas and currents of Renaissance and post-Renaissance European literature.

Abstract
In the present article the author publishes for the first time Neo-Latin poetical texts (together with their Ukrainian translation) that are found at the beginning of a few manuals of poetics written and taught at the Kyiv Mohyla Collegium. These poems have the function of verse prefaces to the courses of poetics. The author analyzes the published texts in the context of the conception of poetry fostered at the Collegium, an Orthodox institution, and at the same time she brings to light their links with Latin and Neo-Latin poetry, which show the original assimilation and adaptation in Ukrainian literature of the seventeenth-eighteenth centuries, of ideas and currents of Renaissance and post-Renaissance European literature.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
