Abstract

Simultaneous monitoring of different parameters, for example, the cerebral activities, the vegetative or muscular functions, can be referred to as polygraphic recording. Polygraphic recording (PR) of epileptic seizures is essentially based on the possibility and relevance to establish the relationships between EEG data and the various parameters composing the polygraphy. The PR has various endeavors, such as [1] to document features leading to a diagnostic definition; [2] to evaluate the clinical relevance of some paroxysmal activity; [3] or to refine the presurgical evaluation in drug-resistant epilepsies. In this Chapter the Authors performed an extensive review on both technical and clinical aspects of PR, particularly focusing on Myoclonic manifestations (both in focal and generalized epilepsies), Tonic/Atonic seizures, Infantile Spasms, Absences, and the possible combination of negative and positive motor phenomena during focal seizures.
