The experimental work carried out by Savardi and Bianchi within the framework of a phenomenological approach to contrariety (Savardi & Bianchi, 2000, 2005; Bianchi & Savardi 2006, 2008a) provided a significant body of research in support of the hypotheses that a) contrariety is not only logical but also perceptual and b) that the perception of contrariety is widely present in experiences of space and spatial transformations. In this chapter, a theoretical analysis will be developed to support the hypothesis that the close link between contrariety and human experiences of space is fundamental: the basic structure of phenomenological experiences of space and its geometry invariably manifest a module which relates to contrariety.

Abstract
The experimental work carried out by Savardi and Bianchi within the framework of a phenomenological approach to contrariety (Savardi & Bianchi, 2000, 2005; Bianchi & Savardi 2006, 2008a) provided a significant body of research in support of the hypotheses that a) contrariety is not only logical but also perceptual and b) that the perception of contrariety is widely present in experiences of space and spatial transformations. In this chapter, a theoretical analysis will be developed to support the hypothesis that the close link between contrariety and human experiences of space is fundamental: the basic structure of phenomenological experiences of space and its geometry invariably manifest a module which relates to contrariety.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
