Many reasons induced to dedicate gems to the gods. Archaic temples inventories quote rings or gems; gems which were consecrated in Etruscan and Latine temples are known, as well as gems with inscriptions which clarify that a dream or an oracle suggested the consecration. A series of gems for Aphrodite, Nemesis and many other gods are mentioned. A chapter is devoted to the gems for the recovered health. The inscriptions mention stolen rings, which were consecrated to a god, and therefore one can suppose that several rings, with their gems, when recovered, were consecrated in the temples.

Abstract
Many reasons induced to dedicate gems to the gods. Archaic temples inventories quote rings or gems; gems which were consecrated in Etruscan and Latine temples are known, as well as gems with inscriptions which clarify that a dream or an oracle suggested the consecration. A series of gems for Aphrodite, Nemesis and many other gods are mentioned. A chapter is devoted to the gems for the recovered health. The inscriptions mention stolen rings, which were consecrated to a god, and therefore one can suppose that several rings, with their gems, when recovered, were consecrated in the temples.File in questo prodotto:
