The essay analyzes the relationship between lying and politics by moving from Arendt's considerations on the matter. Is there a structural, physiological relationship betwwen acting and lying? In what cases can we say that lying trespasses and betrays the transformative and contingent dimension of politics? From within the theoretical-political frame which, from Machiavelli arrives to Arendt, the essay draws from recent events related to the Iraq war and the question of the Weapons of Mass Destruction and interrogates the changing relationship between violence, lying and politics in the age of globalization.
