The Introduction analyses themes and motifs of the þáttr (and their intertextual ties with Eddic poetry and Sigurðr legend), so as the genesis of the main character and of his miraculous story both from learned and vernacular sources; The 'Nota al testo' contains a detailed description of the manuscripts and their linguistic and paleographic features. The edition, with apparatus, is based on the Flateyjarbók as main codex; the varia lectio is edited as Appendix. The book includes a concordance and a Glossary of proper names
