This essay focuses on Giosuè Carducci as a researcher of classical translations spanning from the 16th to the 19th century. Carducci’s interest in the rendering of ancient authors (primarily Horace and Tibullus) is evident both in his critical prose and in the documents preserved in the Casa Carducci archives, which include hundreds of index cards on translators and their works. An examination of these materials reveals a clear ambition to assemble a comprehensive corpus of classical translations, a project in which Flaminio Pellegrini also collaborated.

Abstract
This essay focuses on Giosuè Carducci as a researcher of classical translations spanning from the 16th to the 19th century. Carducci’s interest in the rendering of ancient authors (primarily Horace and Tibullus) is evident both in his critical prose and in the documents preserved in the Casa Carducci archives, which include hundreds of index cards on translators and their works. An examination of these materials reveals a clear ambition to assemble a comprehensive corpus of classical translations, a project in which Flaminio Pellegrini also collaborated.File in questo prodotto:
