Attempts will be made to analyse environmental sustainability in relation to interrelated concepts such as environmental protection and climate change. Then, the legal nature of environmental sustainability will be discussed in light of the evolution undergone in relevant international jurisprudence. The study will undertake a two-tier approach. On the one hand, the article will explore what will be called the “sustainable development tier”, examining whether the field of sustainable development has duly considered the relevance of disasters.
