Cura urbis, monumenta e patrimonio culturale nell’esperienza di Roma antica

The essay examines the importance of urban heritage in the legal context of ancient Rome. The analysis focuses on the political and social role of the res that make up the city, understood as a complex of spaces and things intended for the enjoyment of all citizens. It analyses both the aesthetic value of the city, with reference to urban decorum and artistic heritage, and the role of town planning and works of art in the construction of the system of government. Lastly, the work focuses on the value of memory, highlighting how cities and monumenta contributed to the construction of the common Roman identity.

Il saggio prende in esame l’importanza del patrimonio urbanistico nel contesto giuridico di Roma antica. L’analisi si concentra sul ruolo politico e sociale delle res che compongono la città, intesa come complesso di spazi e cose destinato alla fruizione di tutti i cittadini. Viene analizzato sia il valore estetico della città, con riferimento al decoro urbano e al patrimonio artistico, sia il ruolo dell’urbanistica e delle opere d’arte nella costruzione del sistema di governo. Da ultimo, il lavoro si concentra sul valore della memoria, mettendo in luce come le città e i monumenta abbiano contribuito alla costruzione della comune identità romana.
