Dinamiche di inclusione ed esclusione. Una sfida per la geografia sociale.

Dynamics of inclusion and exclusion. A challenge for social geography. This chapter reflects on the processes of inclusion and exclusion in the context of the deep transformation of contemporary urban and territorial contexts. In this transformation, social space increasingly loses its original value in favour of functional and private uses, based on profit mechanisms rather than instrumental ones aimed at favouring “a few and excluding many”. The aim of this contribution is to underline the meaning of geography for society and civil commitment, with particular reference to the role of associative practices, to the dynamics of power and decision-making, up to contemporary devices in the artisticcultural field, with specific reference to street art.

Il capitolo tratta dei processi di inclusione ed esclusione nell’ambito della profonda trasformazione contemporanea dei contesti urbani e territoriali. In tale trasformazione lo spazio sociale perde sempre più il suo valore originario a favore di usi funzionali e privatistici, basati su meccanismi di profitto piuttosto che strumentali tesi a favorire pochi e ad escludere molti. L’obiettivo è quindi sottolineare il senso profondo di una geografia rivolta alla società e all’impegno civile, con particolare riferimento al ruolo delle pratiche associative, alle dinamiche di potere e decisionali, sino ai dispositivi contemporanei in ambito artistico-culturale, con specifico riferimento alla street art.
