The article presents the edition and commentary of a number of previously unpublished correspondences exchanged between Enea Silvio Piccolomini, later Pope Pius II, and Pietro da Noceto. Through a philological and historical analysis, the contribution seeks to delineate the intellectual and personal dimensions of the relationship between the two correspondents, bringing to light new elements relevant to the reconstruction of the cultural and political context in which their epistolary exchanges took place. The documents, hitherto unpublished, also provide significant insights into the nature of the bond of friendship linking Piccolomini and Pietro da Noceto, which developed within the framework of a shared humanistic education and sensibility.
: Il contributo propone l’edizione e il commento di alcuni carteggi inediti intercorsi tra il Enea Silvio Piccolomini, poi papa Pio II, e Pietro da Noceto. Attraverso un’analisi di taglio filologico e storico, l’articolo mira a delineare i profili del rapporto intellettuale e personale tra i due corrispondenti, facendo emergere nuovi elementi utili alla ricostruzione del contesto culturale e politico entro cui si collocano gli scambi epistolari. I documenti, finora inediti, offrono inoltre spunti rilevanti per un approfondimento della natura del legame amicale che unisce Piccolomini a Pietro da Noceto, maturato all’interno di una condivisa formazione e sensibilità umanistica.
