In 2021, a limestone block with graffiti was discovered during archaeological excavations in the ‘Villa dei Mosaici’, in Corteselle di Villa di Negrar (Verona). On one of its sides, some names of people are scratched, including the name of a L(ucius) Valerius, belonging to an important Veronese family that produced and traded red wine in the early imperial age. Also, there are some numerals, perhaps notes referring to some form of counting. On another side, there is a very interesting tabula lusoria, which was used in an ancient game called ludus latrunculorum.

Abstract

In 2021, a limestone block with graffiti was discovered during archaeological excavations in the ‘Villa dei Mosaici’, in Corteselle di Villa di Negrar (Verona).
