The contribution provides a broad overview of Verona in the early Middle Ages during the transition from Roman rule to the early Carolingian period, focusing on the political and cultural aspects of the period in question. Part of the contribution focuses on the analysis of several liturgical calendars produced in the first half of the 9th century in Verona, in the context of the cathedral church. Other parts are dedicated to the analysis of cultural influences from political circles north of the Alps.
